Aniello Desiderio

Aniello Desiderio

Aniello Desiderio occupies a special position among the classical guitarists of our time, as he is known far beyond the circle of guitar fans. When critics write about him, superlatives are guaranteed. "One might think that this type of musician had actually died out. That must have been the case when the great virtuosos of the 19th century, such as Paganini, Regondi, and Giuliani, sent audiences into raptures," writes the Stuttgarter Zeitung, for example. Born in Naples in 1971, Aniello began studying classical guitar at the age of 6. He was quickly hailed as a "child prodigy" and caused a sensation on his way to an international career, winning an incredible 18 first prizes in national and international competitions. Since 1989, "Il Fenomeno" has been playing worldwide and performing as a soloist with leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and the Moscow Virtuosi. In 1999, Bavarian Radio produced a film portrait of the exceptional guitarist, which was picked up and broadcast by stations across Europe. In addition to his solo career, Aniello forms the ensemble "Passione Napoletana" with his brothers Gennaro and Gaetano Desiderio.
