Lydia Bach was born in Tajikistan. She won several violin and viola competitions in her home country, began her music studies at the Saratov State Conservatory and, after her resettlement, studied viola with Prof. Ingrid Philippi at the Stuttgart University of Music. There she graduated from the soloist class with distinction.
As an orchestral musician, she is a regular guest with the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. She has close musical ties and friendships with chamber music partners such as violinists Nina Karmon and Gabriele Turck, pianist Terhi Dostal, the Jade Quartet and the Diogenes Quartet and performs with them and as a soloist in Europe, Russia and Asia.
She demonstrates her outstanding pedagogical quality every year with the great successes of her students in the national Jugend Musiziert competition. She has also given masterclasses in South America and China. She offers chamber music lessons at ligita.
Lydia Bach has been a permanent member of the chamber ensemble TrioConBrio since 2014. Her stylistic diversity comes into its own in her regular collaboration with the SWR Big Band.
